Deathloop maakt kans op negen verschillende awards en Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is genomineerd in zes categorieën. Ook It Takes Two en Pscyhonauts 2 zijn populair met beiden vijf nominaties.
De nominaties zijn gekozen door de wereldwijde gamepers. Ook de redacties van Gamer.nl en zustersite PU.nl hebben gestemd. De uiteindelijke winnaars worden gekozen voor een vakjury en fans. Vorig jaar won The Last of Us: Part 2 zeven awards.
The Game Awards worden in de nacht van 9 op 10 december uitgezonden. Daar worden ook diverse nieuwe games aangekondigd en trailers getoond. Hieronder zijn de verschillende categorieën en nominaties te zien.
